Invisible &ApplyFunction; operator in <mo> tag shows as strange character #78

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Use this MathML code with the latest font set.
<math><mrow><mi>lg</mi><mo>&ApplyFunction;</mo><mi>a</mi></mrow></math> 

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
We should not see the invisible operator.

What version of the product are you using? On what browser?
MathML editor 2.2, Firefox. Same problem with latest formula rendering library.

Please provide any additional information below.
Replacing the fontswf folder with an earlier set fixes this problem, but some 
new characters wouldn't show.

Replacing s2000.swf with an older version works as a temporarily path.
