maim (make image) takes screenshots of your desktop. It has options to take only a region, and relies on slop to query for regions. maim is supposed to be an improved scrot.
When using maim -s on a high refresh rate monitor (in my case 144hz) the selection GUI doesn't act as smooth as it should act with such a refresh rate.
