Project Update 11/3 #17

In this weeks meeting we discussed Nate's review of the markup, Shane's practice with topic modeling/MALLET, and began creating an XSLT file to transform our XML into text files. We believe that topic modeling will be viable and effective, however, we have decided that we will not use network analysis because it would require further refinement of our XML, which we unfortunately do not have time to do. For next week, Shane is working with topic modeling using our text files, Nate is starting the write-up, which will include background information and methodologies, and Patrick is working on writing and designing the web content for the project.

Are you going to use the same text files for both Mallet and your reading view? If not, what differences will there be between the two different plain texts versions. I'm glad that you guys got your XSLT working though, because for my project we have a tricky bit of XSLT that has to modify the original file and place certain elements at the end rather than inside of our text. Overall, I can't wait to see the corpus page of your site and what you guys plan to show the viewer with all that you could have pulled out of the papers.
