What do you mean by "sshfs"? There are so many builds/packagings available--do
you mean sshfs.app (available
from this site)? sshfs-static (found within sshfs.app)? the one from Fink? the
one from MacPorts? the one found
within MacFusion? something you compiled yourself?
sshfs-static works fine for me on 10.4.10.

sshfs.app no longer works. nothing about it in /var/log that I can find. It
keeps
prompting us for a password.

Try using sshfs-static (the actual commnad line sshfs program) or perhaps just
plain old sshfs to connect to the
remote host in question. Maybe something is throwing a yes/no interactive
dialog that you may need to accept.
sshfs.app is not set up to handle additional dialogs.

By the way, sshfs.app is unsupported--see the sticky post in the macfuse-devel
forum (although what I
suggested above should work).
