Toggle for shadow effect inside ruler area #42

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
Doing an area screen capture on the Mac OS (cmd + shift + 4) to save the
area within the ruler is a potentially handy workaround for the lack of a
built-in screen cap function, but there's a fatal flaw: since Pixus
generates a narrow shadow on the right and bottom edges of the ruled area,
the resulting screen cap image looks as if it has had a bevel effect
applied. This limits the applicability of Pixus.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Having an option to toggle the shadow effect (ideally only for the inside
area) would do the trick.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Mac OS 10.5.8. Pixus 1.1.

Please provide any additional information below.
Excellent app-- keep up the good work!

I guess you mean when you are taking screen capture using Cmd + Shift + 4 along
the Pixus ruler? I have tried
but I didn't see the bevel effect. And I only applied the shadowy glow effect
outside the ruler. Could you please
send me a picture?

Thanks for checking-- actually if you look really closely you will see the
shadow:
here's a screen cap of your screen cap (!), zoomed in 600% and scrolled all the
way
to the bottom right. Notice the gradual, two-pixel shadows. With a dark image
this
degree of shadow doesn't matter, but when capturing a lightly-colored graphic
for web
use it ends up looking very much like a bevel.

Your screenshot is 0 byte. Maybe you should not use Japanese filename?

Whoops! Maybe I shouldn't empty the trash bin before hitting 'save' ;)

To be on the safe side, I've renamed the file as well. . .

Merry Xmas jammind! This is just excellent --it works fine on most smaller (100
x 100 or so) captures, which is
mainly what I need it for.

I'll give it some more testing when I'm back in the office on the 4th, but I'm
afraid to say there are still some
artifacts at larger sizes: zoom in on the bottom two rows of the attached. Most
everything should be white, but
for some reason a bunch of grey pixels remain.

Best regards for 2010!

This is related to bug 48
(http://code.google.com/p/pixus/issues/detail?id=48&can=1#makechanges). I
thought it was done but only 1 out of 3 is solved. Thank you for the note.
Merry Christmas:)
