It doesn't quite correspond to the aim of this project, but it may be of interest to someone: This project has some technical info about the Linkplay A31 and shows how to replace the firmware of the module with an open source solution (Linux/OpenWrt).

Wonderful! Will try this on one of my Arylics!

Thanks. A little warning: it works fine for me (Airplay and MPD service), but it's not necessarily a bulletproof thing. And it can't offer all the features of the original software (yet?).

I once succeeded to enter the console shell of one of the devices, and I disliked that for some unknown reason it kept pinging a Chinese server. That's when I lost my confidence and interest, but this gives me hope.

Recent ESPHome updates added support for host platform, meaning it's possible to run ESPHome on Linux too, not only on MCUs. There's even a PR to control UARTs under Linux.

This would open the path to nicely integrate Linkplay under ESPHome...
