Here's an updated list of the changes we'd like made to the MORIS interface.
Please use this list instead of the list above.
• Change the white box around the scale bar, scale ratio, and lat/long to a
white halo (similar to the Northeast Ocean Data Viewer)
• Spread out the scale bar, scale ratio, and lat/long. This corner of the map
is a little busy, so it'd be nice to slightly spread out these items.
• Include the full number with commas for the scale ratio (e.g., 1:17,000
instead of 1:17K)
• Remove the spaces around the colon in the scale ratio
• Keep the lat/long spacing and number of decimal places consistent. As I
move the cursor around, the width of the lat/long box changes size. With
degrees, minutes, and seconds, this happens because the number of decimal
places changes, so the coordinates should be padded with zeros. With decimal
degrees and State Plane meters, it appears as though the width of the numbers
changes, so it'd be ideal if the number spacing were consistent so the box does
not resize as I move the cursor around.
• Label MA State Plane meters coordinates with "m" and include commas in the
numbers (e.g., 234,591.82 m 900,833.12 m)
• Add km as a separate units option in the measure menu. If you measure a
distance longer than 999 m, it turns to km at 1000 m. The units should not
change based on value or order of magnitude; none of the other units do. Also,
returned measurement values do not contain commas; use commas to separate off
the thousands and millions to aid readability of numbers.
• Add the ability for users to show or hide the lat/long in the bottom right
corner of the map. This option would probably go under the map units menu. This
is a low priority, so we're only interested in adding this if it easy/quick to
do.

One more thing to add to the above list:
• Add a maximize button to the About MORIS window and prevent users from
being able to drag the window title bar completely off of the map

Here are our comments:
• Change the white box around the scale bar, scale ratio, and lat/long to a
white halo
>>> Won't fix.
• Spread out the scale bar, scale ratio, and lat/long
>>> Okay not doing this.
• Include the full number with commas for the scale ratio
>>> Fixed. Looks good.
• Remove the spaces around the colon in the scale ratio
>>> Fixed. Looks good.
• Label MA State Plane meters coordinates with "m" and include commas in the
numbers
>>> Fixed. Looks good.
• Add the ability for users to show or hide the lat/long in the bottom right
corner of the map
>>> Fixed. Looks good. Could the tool tip please be updated to "Show or hide
the coordinates, scale bar, and scale ratio"? Thanks!

Measurement / area units squared away. About window maximize and
no-drag-into-no-person's-land done.

DMS spacing should be better for the mouse coords. It's not perfect since a
'1' takes up less space than '8', but it's much better.
If you wanted it to be spot on for all coords in all cases, we'd need to go to
a fixed width font or come up w/ a fixed width for the white background that
works for all 3 units. Since meters takes up a lot less space than DMS, I
don't think that is a good option. So I vote for either accepting this version
or going to a fixed font.
