2.0.8 Crashing after startup #220

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Upgraded to 2.0.8
2. Run Siphon
3. Application opens for about 10 seconds, then crashes back to iPhone
springboard

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Connect to VoIP server and wait for instructions

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
2.0.8 on an 2.1.1 iPhone 3G

Please provide any additional information below.
Anyone got any idea how to fix this... 2.0.7 was working fine, is there a
way to go back a version...

2.0.8 was working very well for most of today, but after restarting the
iPhone it seems to have taken a turn for the worse and now crashes ever
time i open it. iv tried re-installing, removing and installing again,
nothing seem to get it working again !

Hi,
guess this is the same issue, that I am experiencing. iPhone 1st gen, OS 2.2
(not
2.2.1) and siphon 2.0.8.

After starting up siphon it crashes back to the springboard/winterboard after
approx.
10 sec. However, this only happens if WiFi is activated before siphon is
started. My
current work around is:

- turn off wifi using SBSettings. Start-up Siphon --> no crash and shows "not
connected"
- turn on wifi using SBSettings. Siphon will now connect to the sip-provider
and can
be used normally.

Oh, if i turn off wifi and activate siphon over EDGE/3G, it starts up normally
and
connects to the sip provider without crashing.

looks like some problem with how siphon uses wifi on startup.

looked a bit more into it:
siphon 2.0.8 also starts up if WiFi is enabled, but only as long as no IP
adress has
been assigned, yet. After siphon is running, activating wifi does not affect it
and
it connects to the sip provider and can be used. However, reproduceably Siphon
always
quits on startup if the iPhone has already a WiFi IP.

Sounds like this could possibly be router/DNS-related like the reports in issue
155
-- might be worth trying OpenDNS servers.
