Printing support with Ksmbd #172

Hello, Someone knows if there is Printing and Printer sharing support in Ksmbd ? Thanks

Hello, ksmbd don't support it yet. You can use samba for it. Any issue to use samba ?

Hello, no issue to use Samba. But, since I'm using ksmbd for file sharing which is lightweight compared to Samba, I would be nice if ksmbd supports printing too (my be via Cups).

We can't afford to support printing right now.

since samba and ksmbd-tools use the same port in daemon mode (by default) they are basically conflicting eachother -> they can't be installed (well can), but can not run on the same machine together, right?

Oops, Sorry for missing your question. Yes. ksmbd and samba is using same port, So can't run both ones at the same time. Need to select one of them.

Hello, For my business I really need to connect the printer to the box. Can you revive the topic?

Have the freebox in the center of the house, the office to make it essential. It's a great asset. Once the habit is installed, future customers are locked in ;).

We have salespeople and project managers in an infrastructure not managed by technicians. They very often print small documents of a few pages.

Our printer does not have WIFI. It is already next to our freebox in the hallway at the entrance. For the moment (due to lack of space), everyone sends their files to a PC connected to the printer dedicated solely to receiving their documents by email.

If we could have the printer on networks via the USB of the freebox.

We tried to do work, but we are office tenants, the owner forbids it (Louis XVI style buildings) From the box, pulling a cable would prevent the corridor doors from being closed. You can't go through the ceiling or the floor...

We looked for solutions, the only one would be that we could find our printer on the freebox network or change supplier.

@arlion-dev If possible, I want to check it. but I am not working ksmbd at full time. This is opensource. you can develop the ones that you want. or hire me.
