Firefox doesn't offer(prompt) to save credentials (username/password) when the
inputs are watermarked

Not much I can do about that. Don't use watermark on a password input element
if you want Firefox to save credentials automatically. There's no other way to
do it, because if it remains a password element, you won't see the watermark.

If I watermark only the username it's still not working.

That's because Firefox only looks for the existence of a PASSWORD field in
order to auto-save credentials.
