Windows? Not Linux or a UNIX-like BSD operating system?

nancym commented 1 year ago

Hi @duncan-hart , I had hoped that 2022 would be the year I switched my primary OS to a Linux distribution, but unfortunately I just got frustrated by what a PITA package management is in the Linux world. What Linux or BSD do you recommend for desktop (rather than server) use? I've written about my Linux adventures in Notes About Choosing a Linux Distribution🐧︎. My latest thought, which might change by the time you read this, is to use FreeBSD! Happy 2023:tada:

Take a look at GhostBSD or MidnightBSD.

Also, are you following the development of Haiku OS? < https://www.haiku-os.org/get-haiku/r1beta4/release-notes/>

With FreeBSD you will have a lot of hardware compatibility problems. Use Slackware if you want a sane package management.

Hi, I suggest you look at Windows 10 LTSC IOT. A good starting point is Reddit r/windowsLTCS and windows 10 LTSC post-installation. There is almost no good way to activate it though, but a quick Google will get you answers.
