OSU ROMS THREDDS service updates #4

Open emiliom opened 8 years ago

Several upgrades done in late December. Document these here, for future easier tracking. Most were discussed with Rich Signell over email, and some were documented here.

Discuss remaining near-term tasks, if any. eg:

From @crisien, on a github thread elsewhere:

Alex and Lana are no longer running this particular model. I started plotting the new model fields, which extend up into Canada, for NVS late last month, see http://nvs.nanoos.org/Explorer?action=overlay:osu_roms_sst. Some time in the coming weeks I will try to make these fields available via ona's THREDDS server.

I just activated the WMS service and added the new model fields, which extend up into Canada and include river input, see http://ona.coas.oregonstate.edu:8080/thredds/catalog.html?dataset=OCOS. I have removed the old fields from ona's thredds server.

Thanks, @crisien! I can confirm that I can consume the WMS service (via QGIS). With the IOOS Catalog, it can take a couple of days for these updates to propagate from the service endpoint (ona), to the NGDC GeoPortal, to the IOOS Catalog proper. As of right now (5pm PST), it hasn't propagated to the NGDC GeoPortal (see here), and it turns that harvesting at the IOOS Catalog seems to have stopped across the board two weeks ago; see here for the OSU ROMS entry.

The update should have propagated to NGDC by tomorrow. I'll try to check then, and will also try to run a CSW catalog query on Python. I've submitted a question on the IOOS Catalog to see what's up with the broken harvesting. I also need to look up the status of the ona WMS service endpoint, as far as IOOS registration is concerned; I can't remember if it's supposed to be detected automatically, or if we need to be more explicit.

And that reminds me to follow up on this related task on my end ...

The IOOS Catalog harvesting stoppage has been fixed (thanks to my prodding). The OSU ROMS entry looks good there. I don't understand why it doesn't seem to look updated on the NGDC GeoPortal entry, but I'll ignore that for now.
