I have just found out about Clipy today. I'll be using it for a while.

I have in the past opted to have Clipmenu in my dropbox, version 0.4.3 that works perfectly even on macOS Catalina (I'm a beta user)

Clipmenu doesn't work in Catalina for me. Will try Clippy. Crazy that I've been using multiple copy/paste tools for almost 20 years now, still not integrated to the OS. But dark mode, yeah, we have a dark mode now. Ok.

ClipMenu still works. Just got the 0.4.3 version and working on 10.15.2

@nitantsoni ClipMenu still works. Just got the 0.4.3 version and working on 11.0.1(macOS Big Sur). That's amazing. @naotaka

As others have done ... I suggest using Clipy (it's being actively maintained, and working fine on MacOS 11.3), or another similar option is Maccy. You can buy on App Store ($9.99), or install free using Homebrew (brew install --cask maccy). Maccy doesn't store the clips in folders, which is a feature of Clipy (and ClipMenu) that I think is excellent.

I give thanks for @naotaka for developing ClipMenu, and for making it open source. Wherever you may be ... thank you.

CopyLess2 - free, and has a killer feature: search functionality! Been using it for a longer while now, for me it's much better than ClipMenu/Clipy.

ckizer commented 3 years ago

Wow thanks for all these alternative suggestions. These apps or so great clippy should be build into MacOS

I found a fork of this project called clipy which is still being maintained. It fixes the issues I had with ClipMenu like not being able to paste in the snippets.

https://github.com/Clipy/Clipy (or direct dl from https://clipy-app.com)

This works on my new iMac M1 that I just unboxed.

On my MacBook Pro when this happened a year ago, i just literally copied the binary from Applications folder from my previous laptop, that works too.

But the updated version in the link provided is a bit better (honestly, there is almost no difference).

Regarding removing an old version, Parallels Tools has a tool that will remove related files from Library directory, although you don't need to do that unless u corrupted permissions or a file, in which case, AppCleaner or the parallels tools app cleaner won't be as helpful, YMMV. Tldr - use Clipy, linked above IMHO

Still using ClipMenu in Sonoma. There is no good alternative. I wish he would update it. Some of the screens are not in Dark Mode, which isn't huge, but not having iCloud sync is. Clipy sucks. It's missing some of the best features. It's too bad they stripped it down. It's a matter os choosing between no iCloud sync, and missing important functionality/ I still choose ClipMenu. I hope he updates it, of passes the torch. For now, I have to run 2 clipboard managers. I am using ClipMenu and Copy'EM. Copy'EM is nice for some things, but not nearly as powerful as ClipMenu. It's amazing after all of these years that it still works, even under the newest macOS.

Same. Raycast rules!

5 years since I posted this message... but it still holds 😄

My personal favorite is Copy ‘em, it costs 16€ but it is worth it: it has favorites, named clips, full text search, works with images, customizable shortcuts even for single clips, iCloud sync...
