Oops, I meant to split the PRs but this also includes a fix for #23

Oops, I lost track of this! I totally meant to answer sooner.

In brief, I really thank you for taking the time to do this, but I can't maintain it (nor even meaningfully test it), which is why I didn't accept #39 in the first place.

I do want the fix for #23, and will be cherry-picking that, but as far as glibc, I won't touch it.

Thanks again, sorry I didn't accept the whole thing.
