We could probably just query ADS for papers that cite a given Circular.
Hello. Thanks for opening this issue.
An ADS query would be already a good tool, though there is a distinction between all papers that use those data, and papers from the GCN authors that actually update/refine (even correct) the GCN findings.
I think in all those cases it would be best practice for the paper to cite the Circular.
Or course, and I think we all do. But, if a user starts from the GCN, they won't necessarily know of the paper. The idea was to build in a direct link between GCN and paper (a link that the paper authors need to establish, but it could be interesting for GCN to naturally support it).
Description
It would be useful to have a way to formally associate journal articles with the final analysis presented preliminarily in GCN Circulars.
Acceptance criteria
This could either be implemented by authors requesting a revision with a mention pointing to the paper, or some sort of database that is populated with user-specified or automatically associated papers.
