First, i am a Github noob, so i present here your great DOOM2 widepix assets i had extended to 576 pixels width here,
because i have no glue how to make pull requests.
Why 576 pixels and not 560 pixels?
Simply as that, where can i buy an 21:9 monitor with an aspect ratio of 21:9?
The reality is, nowhere. Even the first 21:9 marketed TVs had an aspect ratio of 64:27 (2560x1080).
21:9 was only a marketing term to compare these TVs to their 16:9 counterparts,
and the real aspect ratios for the so called "21:9" monitors are depending on resolution:
64:27 for example 2560x1080/5120x2160
43:18 for example 3440x1440
24:10/12:5 for example 3840x1600
With a little math we can see that even the narrowest real aspect ratio is wider than 21:9.
To cover all of those three "21:9" ultrawide ratios, widescreen assets for DOOM have to be 576 pixels wide.
Yeah, that is a bit finicky and i do not want to sound like a teacher,
but with a width of 576 pixels those tiny black bars left and right on ultrawide monitors go away :)
Here are the DOOM2 assets i had extended. The middle 320 pixels are equal to the 560 pixel wide assets. Except the titlepic the remaining 120 pixels left and right were extended to 128 pixels.
Whats your opinion?
I have started with DOOM too and would deliver them here.
