Mythbox fails to connect to mythtv mysql DB

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I can only say what I did, I doubt anyone else doing this has the same 
problem otherwise it would be very serious

2. Note mythtv on the remote box works ok (BE/FE on same box), hence no problem 
with mythtv

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Connection to remote mythtv mysql database and access via mythbox.
What I see is an error msg on connection.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Remote system
ubuntu 11.10 + all latest fixes to date (20120507)
mythtv 2:0.24.0+fixes.201109.08de0431-0ubuntu1

Local system (running xbmc)
ubuntu 10.04 + all fixes to date
xbmc as available from repository to date
mythbox as installed via xbmc to date

Please provide any additional information below.
If I use mysqladministrator I can connect from the local machine to the remote 
mythtv mysql DB, no problem
If I try to connect via mythbox it gets "failed to connect, Error 111".

I've not been able to enable mythbox logging as if I try to bring up the option 
from the LHS menu by rolling the cursor over it, the RHS option disappears.  
This seems serious but not as serious as the connection failure.

I've come back to this after a couple of days, restarted both machines and 
everything seems to work as expected.  This issue can be closed.
