I have exactly the same problem with "TV-Shows" ("Movies" are OK though).

XBMC 11.0 (Eden) on Windows XP

Everything worked before the last XBMC Remote Update from the Google PlayStore

Will have to add the same problem when opening an album in Music.
Album list shows OK, but opening it, throws same exception.

Same here. When trying to load TV shows, I get:

Exception
Invalid params.

Unlike the others, my remote seems to work ok.

Same here with "Music" and "TV Shows". For "Music" it shows the albums but when
trying to open one of them the error message appears. Also the time count in
"Now playing" disappeared. For "TV Shows" not even banners will be shown.
Everything went flawless with 0.8.8 beta-1. I guess 1.0.9 works well with
"Frodo" but pretty much screws up with "Eden". Can't change to "Frodo" since I
rely on Dual-Audio and can't get old remote version 0.8.8 beta-1 either since
it was distributed via Google Play. Nothing wrong with being ambitious
launching new versions, but would be nice to keep people in mind that work like
"Never touch a running system"
Hopefully this issue will be fixed in an upcoming version or at least make the
0.8.8 beta-1 available.

XBMC 11.0 prealpha Git 20120325-7fd7f4e (which actually can't be true since I
use the Dual Audio, which was recognized without any problem with version 0.8.8
beta-1) on Windows XP SP3

Same problem found with "TV Shows", "Music" and "Movies".
I was away for three days and I left the Samsung wi-fi player I use as a remote
on, it must have been automatically updated itself :(
Is there a way to downgrade?
I am still on Eden until Openelec 3.0 stable is released.

Upgraded to the latest version XMBC v13 Pre-alpha (nightly) and this solved my
problem.

Upgrading to v12 solved the problem for me too. But I hope that the remote can
maintain some level of backwards compatibility with one or two previous
versions since lots of people have Android apps update automatically causing
their remote to break suddenly.

compatible to Eden builds.

I'd like to chime in and say I'm having this problem as well.

It seems to come up when scrolling throught he list of shows when I see a show
with missing art. Then when I open the season list and episode lists I get the
message again. I'm guessing it is related to some failure to grab the show's
art from the library (I'm sharing the library via MySQL with several XBMC
devices if that matters)

I have this occurring on a stock nexus 7 running 4.2.2, and xbmc remote 1.0.9
r1009 against xbmc r11 prealpha git:20120417-2f965ac.

I also have xbmc remote (same version) running on my nexus s (4.0.2 ROM) and
get the same issue.

Exact symptoms as described. The media list for movies works just fine, but
the media list for TV episodes throws this error.

My workaround is to either use xbmc as a remote, or navigate to the TV folder
and bring up the list of shows via folder navigation.

Thanks

For Eden I downgraded to

XBMC_Remote_v0.8.7-r3_signed.apk v0.8.7-r3-beta1 Dec 2011 Dec 2011 4.2 MB

and TV shows started working fine with Eden.

I should have tried XBMC_Remote_v0.8.7-r4_signed.apk v0.8.7-r4-beta1 Jan 2012
but its working now so maybe next time, either that or upgrade my xbmc
installs to 12.
