as the title says use google rather then Bing

nate-parrott commented 9 years ago

Google doesn't have an API that gives us raw search results, I don't think, so it's complicated...

could do it with Custom search https://developers.google.com/custom-search/json-api/v1/overview

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4082966/what-are-the-alternatives-now-that-the-google-web-search-api-has-been-deprecated

but from the feedback doesn't seem like it give the same result as using a browser

What about using duckduckgo instead of bing? Being able to leverage their !bang operators would be fantastic https://duckduckgo.com/bang.html

jredwards commented 9 years ago

@jhuebsch There's a ddg plugin that will allow you to do exactly that, with backslash bang (e.g. !yt keyboard cat)

ducedo commented 9 years ago

Just found out about Flashlight but you can use the extension 'Custom Search' (not related to the previously mentioned custom search) to use whichever keyword you want.

@jredwards Thanks I just replaced half a dozen plugins with DDG :metal:
