detect the device in the example code instead of a note #152

Hey @Atomic-Germ I wrote some scripts that use some of your snippets here. Do you mind if I add the changes on top of this PR so that you get coauthor on the commit when I merge? :)

Or if you're comfortable sending me the email that you use for your git config, I can add it that way instead :) would be a bit cleaner, but totally fine if you'd prefer not to do that way
