Context
Most DApps are not decentralized. Each step above is a centralization compromise that developers must make in the balance of usability and decentralization. Nobody is going to judge the actions developers took to make their apps usable, but we acknowledge there's more we could be doing to integrate with tools that provide the user with full sovereignty over their data. The goal should be that for those who want to, they can access blockchain-based services without touching any 3rd parties: by using their own nodes of the networks they want to participate.
In the context of Gitcoin Grants Round 5, we are going to spend the Grant on funding Open Source development that will further decentralization in the sense explained above:
Description
Folding@Home has been one of the leading projects in aggregating volunteer contributions of computing power to medical research. During this Covid-19 crisis, lots of interest has turned towards projects like that.
Creating a package for Folding@Home would allow every DAppNode user to contribute voluntarily to medical research.
