The proposed enhancement aligns with user needs, promotes financial health, and draws inspiration from a successful tool in the same domain. Therefore, I recommend approving this enhancement to enhance the Budget Tracker application and better serve our users.
The “inspiration” software: The inspiration for this enhancement comes from the YNAB app, a famous personal finance management tool.
Description of the enhancement I want to implement an expense reminder and notification system within the Budget Tracker application. This feature will allow users to set reminders for recurring expenses, saving goals and specific budget thresholds. Users can configure the frequency, and the application will send notifications or emails to remind users. For example, users can set a reminder to save a certain amount each month towards a vacation fund or receive a notification when their spending exceeds a predefined budget limit. The application will send notifications or emails based on the configured frequency to help users stay on top of their financial commitments and savings objectives.
Feedback from the “inspiration” software’s users: User feedback on the YNAB app often mentions the value of its notification feature. Comments include, "The notifications come in once or twice a day (at night or the morning, when I tend to open it and budget. I'm not sure if it learned and sends me notifications then or not, but it's super helpful)" and "I especially find helpful how the notification that says I'm over budget on any line item stays active in my notifications bar until I fix it."
Why this enhancement is suitable for this project: This enhancement addresses a broader range of financial reminders, including saving goals, budget thresholds, and recurring expenses. User feedback from the YNAB app and similar tools demonstrates that users appreciate comprehensive reminder systems for effective financial management. It aligns to promote financial awareness, healthy spending habits, and goal achievement within the Budget Tracker application.
