Not the best way to do it.

"public" would be the "directory_root" so to speak. I still don't believe that this is the best way to do it, but I can't think of any better way?

Pretty sure this is the best case solution. However, I broke automatic merging for this branch somehow. I'll merge it if you approve, @ClaudioAlbertin.
