Add excerpts to the cards and the ability to over-ride #24

We are reintroducing putting excerpts into the cards - we would also like the ability to over-ride although if this could be restricted only to editors and administrators that would be good.

@domingobishop this seems to be visible to authors - not a problem if we decide to run with it - but we spoke initially of allowing this functionality to only editors and admins?
