I'm for it. Not sure how this affects Park Tiles though?
To implement this in park tiles, we have to add WALA and IPP as boundaries in our Parks database and treat them like any other park. It sounds like Richard can provide POI's but we would still need roads, trails, parking lots, and buildings to properly represent these parks in Park Tiles.
@nateirwin: Do you think anyone would be against this since we'd be managing data in NPS Places that belongs to a non-NPS park?
I'm sure some might disagree with supporting this, but if GLAC is willing to take ownership, I don't see any problem with it.
Richard sent us the best available boundary for Waterton. I let him know that we'd need a little more time to decide how to symbolize this boundary on the map. Here's the file:
@cwlawlis802: Is there a place we can stash this until we're ready to add it to the parks table, or is keeping it here okay?
If it's a custom boundary, we typically like to add it to our Boundaries
directory on Drive - which I've done here.
This is primarily for custom boundary tracking down the road, so everything is in one place.
@mtaylorlong was this added as unit_code = inpe
to our parks tables? I'm just trying to sort out the unit codes that don't align with NPS.gov.
As far as I know, the Waterton Lakes and International Peace Park have not been added to our tables. We just stored the boundaries and are still on hold for figuring out how to implement these boundaries in Park Tiles 3.
Thanks. Looks like INPE is a memorial in North Dakota, near the border with Canada.
Richard Menicke from Glacier NP asked if we could show Waterton Lakes (WALA) and International Peace Park (IPP) in Park Tiles. Richard said he'd be willing to contribute data for these parks to NPS Places, but I'm guessing there may be some issues around this. I told him I'd ask around.
