Pros:
Send messages without losing focus of the background software
Could (potentially) enable Press-to-Talk to work
Cons:
Limited keyboard support
Limited feature support (no commands)
Blocks mouse inputs while active
Requires toggle shortcut to be released to show the window as a result
Requires the app to run as Admin
