NN Projects Do Not Show up on Mac Pro Laptop and/or iPhone 6 #125

Open wambeere opened 6 years ago

wambeere commented 6 years ago

Hi, great work! I am unable to see the project "pollinators" which was started by Carol Boston. I have taken photos of pollinators from my garden, that I would like to contribute to this project by uploading those photos onto the project. However, when I search for the project using Mac Pro laptop and/or iPhone 6, I do not see the project. I did talk with Carol and she said she had not deleted the project. Thanks for all you are doing on NN. It is looking great.

BTW this was more than a week ago, has the problem been fixed?

stevemacn commented 6 years ago

Hi @wambeere - was this #120? I still waiting for details about the problem so I can try to recreate it and fix it.

wambeere commented 6 years ago

Steven, I am sorry I did not receive an earlier message asking for more details. Was this on Github or through NN?

Yes please. This was for #120 ( i.e., as previously reported by Carol) I tried to look for Carol’s project on pollinators. I could not see it (on the mac or iPhone 6).

Please let me know if you need more details.

Liz

@wambeere - we'll definitely get it fixed! I think it might have been a response to your question mark request but I can't remember. We have too many modes of communication at this point!

Here are some details that will help me recreate your problem.

  1. Just to confirm, we're talking about the website version (nature-net.org)
  2. Her project is named "Planting for Pollinators"
  3. Are you using the search feature, scrolling to find it, or both?
  4. Can Carol see it?

I'll ask @mahzoon to test it as well and see if he can recreate it. I've not been able to recreate the problem so far.

Ok, I don’t know the answers to these questions—I can get on github to communicate with you, if that is preferred. Or I can do it on NatureNet. Let me know which you prefer. I will try to retrace this issue with Carol, and get back to you.

@wambeere - I'll reach out to you by email and we'll figure it out!

Alright— So, here is my report:

  1. Still don’t see Carol’s project, “planting for pollinators’ on my iPhone 6. This is true whether I search or scroll down. (The search function is getting stuck on where you are supposed to choose your community. See the screenshot below.
  2. I do see Carol’s project on Chrome (macbook pro).
  3. I checked and all my location services have been on the whole time and in fact NN is the only app with that special ‘allow’ status. 4 Arising issue, Jenny’s project (Fall Berry Photo Collecton), when one clicks on the photo, there is no map showing, probably because she is in doing this from Vancouver, Canada. See the second screenshot below with the photo of berries.

First image This is the screenshot of my search for planting for pollinators. I got only a grey screen with the listed communities as you can see.

Second image: This is the screenshot of the result page when I clicked not the photo taken by Jenny Nov 3. I don’t know if Vancouver CDN is a markup or something she entered in the description.

Thanks so much for the details @wambeere! This makes a ton of sense. This appears to be a problem with the iOS app only for iPhone. @mahzoon can look into this problem and see what the issue is.

In the meantime, feel free to use the website on your phone from safari or chrome (nature-net.org). It is mobile friendly and will work exactly the same as the version you're using on your macbook.

I'll loop back to you after I've spoken with @mahzoon

Perfect, Thanks! and I wish you speedy success with the glitches. NN looks great, you have done a lot of work!
