I want ...

I want to easily click on multiple checkboxes in a table.

Multi-Select

So that ...

I don't need to click on every single checkbox for e.g. set interfaces to disabled with bulk edit

I know this is done when...

I select multiple lines in tables

Certainly will be a feature of the new UI in 2.0

A shift click version of this feature might be more desirable than what is shown in the issue description.

While "Shift + Click" is a good option, using the mouse to select a range allows selecting non-consecutive blocks. This functionality will be unavailable with only "Shift + Click." implemented.
