From experience I can tell you that this will never stop for a reasonably popular package -- also it's exactly the point of version numbers to track these bugfixes over time.
I'd recommend to take a look at semantic versioning which is a community standard for version numbers.
In general, one uses v0.x.x
to indicate that a package is not stable yet, and switches to v1.x.x
once it's considered "stable".
People can use version numbers to indicate the version of copykat they used in their manuscript which helps the readers reproduce the analysis.
Thanks @grst I have been fixing issues one by one upon requests. Agree, it's better to update by versions. I'd try to make it happen as soon.

I would like to add copykat to bioconda. However, this would require to have versioned releases of the copykat package. Would you consider creating one?
