I can't reproduce this at all. Have you clicked the Extension button and checked for the icon in that menu?

rebop commented 9 months ago

I don’t understand your reply and I am very techy.

The extension appears in the extension list. Can get to options, etc. BUT NOT ICON anywhere, on toolbars, menus, overflow, customize or right clicks to access this extension.

I can't reproduce this at all. Are you sure you have clicked the Extension button and checked for the icon in that menu?

CTRL K does nothing, either....

navorite commented 9 months ago

Is this Firefox? It seems to me this is a custom version or you have a custom Firefox stylesheet/theme, is that correct?

The button I'm referring to is this. It should be in the menu that opens when you click on this button. Ctrl + K works only on the extension main page, not the options page.

rebop commented 9 months ago

This IS Firefox. 115.6 ESR. And yes, i use custom CSS. However EVERY othe extension works as expected.

Do I assume this is what you mean?

Is THIS what you are calling the Session Main Page?

CTRL K does not work there as well.

navorite commented 9 months ago

I went ahead and installed Firefox ESR, it doesn't occur there either.

CTRL + K works on the main page — that is the popup page

I have it working now. Still no toolbar icon, must go through managing extensions list. But I can at least test it now.

That is not true. There IS an icon. You have to pin the icon after installing the extension from the extension list shown in my last reply. Your custom Firefox is preventing that I assume.

rebop commented 9 months ago

What an obtuse way of pinning an icon. I have 54 extensions and have NEVER had to do that to find an icon nor to access an extension. And IF you need to do something that unsual, I would think there would be instructions after installing on how to access the extension and then pin it. You might have more users :) And it has nothing to do with my custom CSS and there are many 1,000s of users of this CSS app to customize Firefox. I susbscribe to their feed an no one has ever mentioned it prevents installing a toolbar icon for an extension.

Now I can test and see how it compares to what I currently use and I find my current session manager falls short compared to the original Session Manager in early (pre 57) versions of Firefox.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the extension. This is simply how extension installations work nowadays, this was introduced in Firefox a while ago, you will also find the same behaviour in Chromium so this isn't unusual. I have no idea where you base this information from because I use Firefox daily and ALL extensions I install have to be pinned first from the menu I just mentioned, no extension whatsoever can pin itself automatically. Here is a topic covering this for reference.

You are welcome to provide feedback :)

rebop commented 9 months ago

Well, not only 53 of the installed 54 but likely another 50 tested and uninstalled ALL have put icons on my toolbar perhaps one or two needing to go to Customize to drag an icon. And I have been online since 1986 (no typo) and using Firefox since the near beginning. So we have different experiences I cannot explain. If this is new, I have yet to experience it aside from today. Recall I am on ESR, so that could be why.

OK, feedback :) It opens a new window. Does not open my saved session in the same window which I would want. THEN, it opens a saved session in reverse order. I have 99 tabs saved. It goes 1, 98, 97, 96, etc.

This is already discussed in #44, which I plan on adding in the next version.

I don't get what you mean. Do you mean the tabs are in the correct order at the end but they open at the start in reversed order?

If you've installed an extension before and then reinstalled it, it stays pinned because Firefox saves those preferences for extensions. If you install another new extension that you have never installed before, you would have to manually pin it.

rebop commented 9 months ago

All are in reverse order. May appear ran one is correct as that is my home page and is open when I click the session. Maybe not as a new window. Not at least all but one in reverse order of the session I saved. ~BobSent from my iPhone and usually brief as I'm not all thumbs...On Dec 22, 2023, at 12:40 PM, navorite @.***> wrote:

I don't understand anything. I'm gonna close this issue as it is not a bug, and if you have any issues consider opening a new one with more details.

rebop commented 9 months ago

Pretty simple. Saved session opens in reverse order. Not hard to understand. Buh bye. ~BobSent from my iPhone and usually brief as I'm not all thumbs...On Dec 22, 2023, at 1:15 PM, navorite @.***> wrote: I don't understand anything.
