Back button causes error alert in IE and Firefox when using search to get to viz #81

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use Firefox or IE.
2. From the home page, enter a search to navigate to an interest.
3. Press the back button a few times.
4. Behold alert complaining about an undefined value.
5. Pressing back again does go back to home. Attempting to use the viz anymore 
throws more error alerts.
