Use Internet archive URLs #3

Few of the URLs in this article are already broken and more will likely be in the future. Therefore will you consider updating URLs with Internet archive URLs?

I'd like to, but combating link rot is a never-ending task. Even the Internet Archive isn't a panacea; for example, for many years this URL was unavailable on archive.org due to a robots.txt exclusion:

http://cm.bell-labs.com/cm/cs/who/dmr/chist.html

https://web.archive.org/web/20010604112644/http://cm.bell-labs.com/cm/cs/who/dmr/chist.html

(This is one of the reasons I use excerpts heavily.)

That said, I will certainly accept pull requests to fix the broken links.
