How does the recently announced retirement of Google Checkout affect this gem?

Is there any way that this gem can be transitioned to the Google Wallet for Digital Goods API for those that are selling only digital goods?

I don't plan to continue maintaining this gem in light of the announcement. If you, or someone else, would like to become the new maintainer, I would be glad to transition the project to you.
