Question regarding assembly #84

Hi:

I was wondering if FCS-GX works with soft-masked fasta, and if it does, would it make the masking step faster?

Hello,

FCS-GX is able to operate on soft-masked FASTA, but the software performs its own method of repeats identification that helps to inform contamination assignment. Soft-masking will not bypass this repeats identification step.
