Write user documentation for ontology change requests #315

Open jvendetti opened 1 month ago

We need to start documenting how to use the ontology change request functionality in BioPortal. This would be helpful for ontology curators who are testing the existing functionality, and it's also needed for the KGCL paper that's currently being written as part of the U24 grant.

The current BioPortal user guide is here: https://www.bioontology.org/wiki/BioPortal_Help, and is probably the right location for the new documentation entry.

URL on the wiki for the change request documentation: https://www.bioontology.org//wiki/Ontology_Change_Requests.

Thanks for creating this page! It's a great basic outline. If I wanted to suggest additions or changes, how should I do that?

It's a MediaWiki-based wiki, so I don't think there's an elegant mechanism for suggesting changes. It's no problem for me if you just wanted to edit it directly.

You would need an account to perform edits. The account creation link was disabled due to issues with spam, so I went ahead and manually created an account for you. There should be an email notification - let me know if you have any issues there.

Ideally, this could be the right moment to start moving a bit of BioPortal documentation to the OntoPortal user guide: https://ontoportal.github.io/documentation/user_guide @galviset and @Bilelkihal can explain how it will work so it handle a generic documentation and also speciifci ones. In that case it would be in a BioPortal specific page.

For the moment this new architecure is here only (our fork): https://ontoportal-lirmm.github.io/documentation/user_guide But we will move it to OntoPortal Documentaiton Github project soon.
