Fabricate ORE float-ball retaining rod

Since we are not ordering this part from EdgeTech, we need to reverse engineer the rod that retains the float ball until the acoustic release is activated to release from the ORE pop-up system. Rob Morris at EdgeTech found one manufacturer that would make it for $725. I think that we can do this ourselves with use of either the Maker Space on campus or machine shop.

[x] measure and make drawing with dimensions

[x] buy plastic rod material, pieces and adhesive (PVC pipe sealant??)
[x] lathe rod to dimension needed in the float
[x] drill hole for release link
[x] glue rod assembly into the the float
[x] glue end piece
[x] tap and set screw in end piece

part of assembly back from machine shop, just need to test it before gluing it into place

the pipe dope is drying ... with rod in place on the float ball ... passing this off to tripod prep #66 for full testing
