Are you on 3.11.1 (this should fix it)? I believe this was introduced in 3.11.
Ah, yes. I downloaded the version listed a the top of the downloads page today.
Then I had an error that said I couldn’t couldn’t do an update if the app was where it was downloaded to, even after I had moved it to the Applications folder and relaunched.
Downloading the second, collapsed one manually, which is 3.11.1, fixes this problem.
So, the crash is fixed but there are two issues that prevented me from getting the latest version: A confusing download page AND a spurious self-updater error.
@blackketter ah :/ thats unfortunate. I'll have to check with AppCenter's support for the download page issue.

Interesting, I just tested this by
Thanks, @dexterleng!
I did those same steps but step 5 gives me the same error, even after rebooting the Mac and deleting the Vimac preferences.
This worked:
1 Delete /Applications/Vimac.app 2 Unzip Vimac_distribution 9.52.12 PM.zip 3 Move unzipped app to Applications folder 4 Relaunch Vimac.
I was then able to check for updates successfully.
I noticed that Vimac crashes whenever I trigger it while Preview.app is frontmost with a particular PDF file open and frontmost. When other PDFs and PNG files are frontmost, things seem to be OK
Relaunching Preview doesn't seem to fix it. File in question and crashlog below. Let me know if there's any additional info you need or things for me to try. Thanks!
