more robust ticket creation/editing #17

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Describe the enhancement in detail.

Creating and editing tickets is highly error prone as the parser is really
too simple (it can't handle line-breaks in values).

There needs to be a more reliable method for parsing files and handling the
call out to the editor.

What files will be affected?

shell.py

How will the enhancement benefit the project?

It will improve program stability and increase usability

What side-effects (if any) will the enhancement create?

None

While I completely agree with the overall goal of this ticket, its scope is too
large. We should do smaller sized
tickets, such as "Support line breaks in ticket edition".

Long term goals should be written in a wiki page.

I will create a separate issue for line breaks, as it is the only one I can
think of right now. I suggest we close
this ticket and create a wiki page.

Oh, or maybe we can use the "Blocked On" feature to indicate issues with a
larger scope. Let's try that.

with t27 resolved and the scope of this ticket too broad, I hereby consider it
closed. Muahaha.
