I have the same problem,

Tried to reinstall it and still not fix the problem. Have you found the source
of the problem yet?

I may try my hand at fixing this... I find it really useful other than the
creaking. I used process lasso to restart it when it crashed, but now it
doesn't even start.

This might be due to a "corrupt" settings file. I tried reinstalling and
noticed that there was a 0KB "Settings.xml" file left behind in the AudioSwitch
folder under Program Files after I uninstalled. I killed the whole folder, then
installed AudioSwitch and it's working again.

Yes! Deleting the settings.xml works! (I actually deleted the whole folder and
reinstalled)

I Can confirm that the corrupt settings file is the cause, has happened to me
several times as well. I also replaced it with new one. New versions since RC3
are installing in the users local appdata folder and I hope this doesn't happen
anymore.
