We originally wanted to discover opportunities to enhance the explorer experience and make it feel a but more complete. What we realized after our research was that this project is not about reinventing NEAR's block explorer experience, it's about understanding how it could be fundamental to the health and progress of the protocol. We reviewed dozens of explorer experiences and narrowed our focus to these PoS explorers who seemed to share this idea:
Terra Station
ARK
Cardano Pool
BOS
TZ Stats
QTUM Info
With each, we compared features for 3 user types: Delegators, Validators, Developers. Our approach is founded on the principle of promoting and preserving decentralization. Who else does a good job of this?
We discovered a handful of experiences that impressed us or inspired new ideas that supported our guiding principle of Encouraging Decentralization.
Here are some highlights:
1. Humanizing validators leads to staking decisions with more dimension and gives smaller validators with less marketing $ a voice
2. Ranking by yield gives smaller validators more exposure and delegators healthier staking decisions
3. Alerts help everyone work or react faster
4. Identifying where contracts breakdown is critical information for developers to address issues with more clarity
5. Highlighting cool projects and the developers building them sheds light on the progress of the protocol and engagement of the community
(Full brief to be posted after user interviews/testing):
