Summary
Users will be enabled to create a new wallet by using their existing social-media account instead of buying and transferring NEAR tokens.
As of today, NEAR enables non-cash wallet funding via red packet app. This functionality is good for user-generated linkdrops (see #11), but is not covering the case of a new user who wants to create a wallet and has no access to NEAR-enabled exchange.
Intended Outcome
As a user, I want to create a named wallet using a social media post, such that I don't have to go through an exchange to source the initial funds.
This feature will reduce the friction to join the NEAR ecosystem, as the account creation will source funds from a faucet instead of a transaction on an exchange.
Measurable outcomes:
number of new accounts created
number of referrals generated by the social media posts
How will it work?
Users will be asked to publish a post (e.g. a tweet), to claim their new NEAR wallet. This feature will need a faucet wallet to fund the account creation (as of today ~3 NEAR), and a verification function to check that a user published their post on their social media profile.
This feature will open additional UX and UI research for user-bring-user dynamics (e.g. "invite your Twitter friends") and may re-use part of what was done for #11
