6 years ago Increased pad size would be an idea - those are actually standard LED footprints, but I guess they're meant for professional soldering.
I think one issue's been that in some places (like near the bottom) there just isn't room to move the LEDs further away - and I went for trying to keep them about the same distance away all the way around - but I could move some and not others?
I found the built in led area's a bit too small for soldering. It looks like the site of each led probably needs to be moved back to account for an increased pad.
