This can be fixed by using a powered hub (I think?) or using a raspberry pi camera. (Ribbon cable connected)
This is causing even worse problems. When the camera disconnects, there are so many logs that the logs take up 100% of the disk space. 🤦♂️
I now have reason to believe it is due to a faulty power supply. Swapped it out and have yet to see the issue. See https://lb.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=210914. Closing until proven otherwise.
Of course, hours after I close the issue, it happens again. @#*$
So far I have not encountered problems with my webcam (Logitech C200). Refer to this list of webcams and opt for the ones that say "works fine without powered hub".
After running the main server for a few days with a logitech c270 webcam, the webcam randomly disconnects and
/dev/video0
disappears. Related to https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=40551
