User feedback from the wild: add a configurable option to e.g. show a button to not just postpone but disable updates altogether.

A few open questions/issues that need to be addressed with this:

How to best integrate it into the main page and also add a warning or explanation of the consequences of the choice
How can the user potentially undo it? Invoke the app with --show-options that can be called from the product it governs?
