GMail: "Custom selected item color" does not work with vertical split pane view enabled #334

What is the problem? Describe completely:

With the new vertical split pane view enabled in GMail the selected item color 
setting does not work correctly - all other colors (unread, etc) work fine.

The issue is that it only creates a partial mouseover effect, (only parts of 
the cell) and the actual selected message is not highlighted after the mouse 
leaves the cell.
