Runs slow when writing a new message

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Click on Compose
2. Then, write

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I'm switching from 0.9.5 and when I started writing it was fast as it should be

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system and
what Desktop Environment?
I'm using Linux Mint 10 KDE and hotot 0.9.7 (Ada)

Please provide any additional information below.
I changed the theme and disabled effects but it is really slow. When I click on 
Compose it lasts about 2 seconds to let me write, and when I am writing it 
takes another 2 seconds to the letters appear on the screen.

It started when I updated to 0.9.7 , in 0.9.6 it was very fast. I know I don't 
have the best PC (sigle core K8, 2Gb RAM), but it didn't matter in 0.9.6

Just updated to the last version. Still too slow for me. Ok my pc is not a 
rocket but not an old thing either. Really too bad for this perfect app.

Same problem here on my ubuntu 10.10 and hotot installed from ppa. It's too 
slow when I write. Hope something can be done...
