Even if you know the PR you are going to end up with, how does that help you?
In order to make a comparison
you need to know the PR of the people above you *after they take a potential
piece* to make a clear judgement.

Their PR will drop when they receive an item, thats all they need to know.
Waste of
time doing this.

That is my entire point. I want to see how my PR will change (and I can then
look at
/epgp table to see how the potential new PR will compare to people) to know if I
actually do want the item. It might be a relatively small upgrade and taking
it will
put me below people who might want the better upgrades potentially available.
If I can see at a quick glance that my PR will drop (let's say from 150) to
100, and
then a look at /epgp shows another of my class at 125 I can make the decision.
I WILL be doing this every time an item I'm interested in drops (together with
the
output from EquivalencePoints to judge how much of an upgrade for me the item
is).
If needs be I'll go fiddle with the code to put together an example
implementation.

I am not adding something like this. For two reasons:
1) This is the perfect feature to delay looting.
2) What you are trying to do is basically play the system to get the minor
upgrade while still being on top of PR to
get the major upgrade as well if it drops. You might thing this is a good idea,
and it may be good for your epic
epeen, but for the guild this is actually the worst possible investment of loot
possible. Provably so.

You can view it that way if you want. What *I* was trying to do was *avoid*
taking
the lower upgrade item if it would then make me unlikely to get a later higher
upgrade item, NOT to try and get both items. Without any info I'll just need
on all
possible upgrades and quite possibly deprive a lower-geared guild mate of an
item
that would lead to the guild as a whole being better geared.

Get the first upgrade that drops. If another one drops and you are on top of PR
and the item is a bigger upgrade
for someone else pass it. You don't need a tooltip helper for that.

Suisanahta,
I think what's being said is that what you're asking for is a way to quickly
see
your current PR calculation so that you can see if the Loot you're considering
will
drop you below someone else. This will simply be viewed as a way to keep
enough PR
for "that great piece" you want even if you have to pass on other upgrades,
however
small they may be... in other words "Loot Hoarding". It would seem that what
you're
asking for is exactly the opposite of what the entire EPGP system was created
for so
I wouldn't expect it will be added to the system.

Fair enough, I can think of some other arguments on my side, but for now I'll
make do
with the small script I just made to take current EP and GP and GP of an item
and
show me my PR before and after (in other words there's nothing anyone can do to
stop
anyone from doing the comparison before needing on loot).

One more thing:
Your PR changed during the raid anyway. While you think you can loot hoard with
this method, it won't work.
Let me give you an (extreme) example:
Player A: 10000 EP, 1000 GP = 10 PR
Player B: 2000 EP, 500 GP = 4 PR
Item of Lesser Uberness drops, 1000 GP. Hmm lets see, 1000 GP means Player A
will end up with 5 PR, above
Player A so lets just grab this. If Item of Uberness drops I will still get it.
New values:
Player A: 10000 EP, 2000 GP = 5 PR
Player B: 2000 EP, 500 GP = 4 PR
Now next boss is down and Item of Uberness drops indeed. *But* during that time
both Player A and Player B
received 1000 EP:
Player A: 11000 EP, 2000 GP = 5.5 PR
Player B: 3000 EP, 500 GP = 6 PR
Oops, Item of Uberness goes to Player B :-)

I never thought I could hoard loot.
The only effect of checking PR in this way is to possibly *give* loot to
someone else.
Either I need both and get both just because my PR is that high
or
I pass first, after checking PR, (thus giving it away) and need second and get
it
or
I need first, not having checked PR, and don't have enough PR for second.
And this is all assumning there's definitely someone else who would want either
item.
Now, hoarding PR (not loot) in such a way as to waste an item (it goes to no-one)
would indeed be detrimental, and isn't something I had in mind at all.
There's also the chance that me getting the lower item and someone else the
high item
is less of an overall upgrade (remember some stats have more effect the more of
them
you have, so whilst the low item does indeed give me more of a boost than the
low one
... the higher one gives me MUCH more of a boost than the other player).
Anyway, I'm done debating this, I'll make my choices as I see fit with quick
calculations post boss death.

Read the example again. Your calculation is not going to guarantee anything
unless you make it quite a bit
more complicated:
Take into account the expected time for the uber item to drop, the average
attendance of all that compete for
this item and add EP equivalents (expected time * attendance), take into
account decay during this time and
figure out the resulting PR. If your PR is necessarily higher than everyone
else at the end of this period, you
will have good confidence you will receive the uber item.
Feel free to run scripts, but I can tell you now: what you are doing is futile.
