Not all Ulduar bosses trigger the bosskill EP prompt. #421

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Kill a boss in Ulduar.
2. Wait to see if the EP prompt appears.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The EP prompt should appear for all bosskills if the settings is turned on.
It does for some, but not all.

What version of the product are you using? What locale is your client (en,
ru, kr, ch, es, tw)? What other addons do you have installed and what
versions?

Using 5.4.8 with <en> localization
Other mods are:
 - AtlasLoot Enhanced v5.04.00a
 - RPGO's CharacterProfiler v3.0.1
 - Recount v3.1d (stable)

and region of your guild?

Please provide any additional information below.

If you need a precise list, I can make sure to mark it down for each kill
next week.

Bosses that do not die and only submit are not detected. You need to install
DBM to
enable its boss kill detection (which is not complete either btw).

Basically this is working as intended.

I don't want to be a bother about this since you are the developer and say it's
working as intended, but I just want to be clear about why I reported it.

When we ran Naxx, you released the version of EPGP that introduced the boss
kill
prompt. I immediately started using it because I was really having a hard time
remembering to award boss kill EP before the raid ended, so then I would have
to
remember who had been in the raid and select them all after the raid. The
feature was
a total miracle because I never had to worry about forgetting. That beautiful
prompt
always popped up.

Since heading into Ulduar the prompt has very rarely appeared. I don't know yet
if
it's boss specific or not, but I only see it maybe twice per week. The only
bosses I
know for sure where I've seen it appear are Ignis and Auriaya.

I don't know what "bosses that do not die and only submit" means, so I will
concede
that could be the point where this bug breaks down, but I just find it odd that
it
worked 100% of the time in Naxx and maybe 10-20% of the time in Ulduar. Having
the
feature in the mod makes no sense if it can only work on certain bosses. I have
to
also note that I have never used DBM, ever. So this worked 100% in Naxx without
DBM.
However, I will also note that there are several people in my guild who raid
with
DBM, so that could matter, though I don't know how my client would know that
their
DBM acknowledged a kill.

Anyway, if this is indeed working as intended then I will likely resubmit as a
sug or
something. Because, frankly, it is such a wonderful feature, and if DBM can
detect
boss deaths, and if the combat log can log a boss death, EPGP can certainly
detect
them as well.

The problem is that combat log has nothing on a boss that submits. Examples of
bosses
that submit are all the keepers. Freya does not die, neither does Hodir or
Thorim. As
such there is nothing in the combat log saying "Freya dies". DBM eventually will
detect all boss kills by localizing all emotes bosses do to detect bosses
submitting.
That in itself is a quite large project in itself, one that is very low on the
radar
especially when DBM does or will implement it one way or another.

Not to mention that boss kill EP are not coming without their shortcomings. You
can
browse the forums for discussions on the disadvantages of boss kill EPs.
