It's also responded to the EPGPLootmaster ticket.
Whats the version of EPGP you're using. And after the stuff is 'cleared' whats
the
contents of the officer notes? Perhaps someone with an older version of EPGP
with
write access to the officer notes is causing this. Please also check the
versions for
people with write access to the officer notes.

I will double check with those who also have officer note abilities, to see what
version they're using. I'm using the most current version, whatever it is - I
tend to
update my addons nearly daily via the updater.

Addon itself hasn't been updated in 4 weeks... all officers and anyone with
access to
officer notes have updated addons, is still doing the same thing.
Worked fine for about 2 weeks and as of last night, began acting up again on UI
reload or game crash.

Can you explain in detail what the effects of this "reset" are?
- How many GP credits are lost?
- Are only GP credits lost?
- Which people lose their credits?
- Is EP not affected?

It is, literally, reset to it's standings from the beginning of the night.
Number of GP credits varies, depending on how many bosses killed. But it's for
everything done that night.
Everyone who has received loot, and therefore GP, is who loses the GP credits.
It is
as though the night of passing out GP resets entirely back to the start of the
raid,
and we then have to go back in and re-add their GP to the list so that it is
accurate. This has resulted in some (obvious) issues because sometimes the
"reset"
isn't noticed right away; we've started uploading to EPGPWeb more often, but we
can't
be tabbing out every bossfight.
Only GP, not EP.
Anyway, thanks for your time and help in fixing this issue.

Thing is that this doesn't make much sense :-) When GP is applied it should go
directly (and almost immediately)
to officer notes. Can you verify that this is happening? If not then we should
find out why.

It is going to officer notes.
and it's changing them. But when I reload my UI, Log in and out quickly, or my
game
crashes, it resets even the officer notes. That's what I'm saying. Complete
reset.
We've verfied what is going on. We just can't figure out WHY. When I originally
posted my problem, it was suggested that perhaps someone with officer-note
access had
an out of date addon. We required all officers (hell, all guildmembers using the
addon) to update to the most current version.
This seemed to fix the problem for about 2 weeks. It started happening again on
Tuesday. And there hasn't been a new version released, so we're all current and
up to
date.

Update: did it again - luckily I uploaded to EPGP web and was able to restore
points
prior to vezax tonight. However, this time it did it WITHOUT a reload of ui,
relog,
or crash of game. Did it with no prompting. One of our raiders was looking
randomly
and saw it had reset again.

Note: We are removing access to officer notes to everyone except myself as LM
and our
guild leader. I will let you know if that helps anything.

The only people able to EDIT officer notes should be those that give out EPGP,
all
other ranks should be able to VIEW officer notes.
Still, if the officer notes are getting updated and a /reloadui is causing them
to
reset its very strange, since the officer notes are stored on the server

I know that. We've been using EPGP for over a year now. I know how it is
supposed to
work.
And yeah, it's been happening on a reloadui, game crash, and a quick
log-out/in.

Could it have something to do with the initialization of the officer notes when
someone has installed EPGP for the first time. Could it be that the addon
doesn't
detect that it has already been installed and is re-initializing stuff?
Original comment by mackatack

Could be; as I mentioned above I've asked the guild master to revoke all
officer-note
adjustment privileges except for the two of us; hopefully that will fix it.

The addon doesn't initialize anything. This sounds like a bug in
LibGuildStorage or something fishy with the lua
interpreter on login/logout.
Original comment by evlogimenos

Except it doesn't always happen on login/out. It happened last night with no
prompting whatsoever. I passed out loot, we made our way to vezax, during trash
a
raid member whispered me to let me know the values had reset and people's
positions
had jumped back to where they'd been because the GP values had reset to raid
start
and no longer had the GP given for freya gear included.
I hadn't crashed, reloaded, or relogged at all that time, either. Which is the
part
that really caught me off guard.

Is it possible that someone sitting outside the raid is "importing" past
snapshots from epgpweb? That would
reset stuff pretty nicely :-)
Also I find it a bit weird that such a bug exists and 1200 guilds didn't notice
this so far.
Original comment by evlogimenos

No, only officers are able to change the officer notes (and we're actually
changing
that as well to see if it fixes it), and none of 'em would do that.
And, believe me or not. Fine. It's weird. Fine. But don't assume that just
because
nobody else noticed it (or other guilds quit using it and went to another
system when
they DID see it, rather than try to stick to it like we are), that it isn't
happening.
I don't know why it is happening. I just know that it is. And implying that I
don't
know what I'm talking about when I am saying what is going on does not
particularly
help matters.
Original comment by pcharm...@gmail.com

I dont think anyone is implying you don't know what you are talking about. Its
just
very strange. Maybe some other officer has an addon that does something with
officer
notes? Officer notes are stored on blizzards servers, so for them to reset back
to a
pre-raid setting, those numbers must be coming from somewhere.
Original comment by dingochavezz@gmail.com
on 24 Jul 2009 at 11:12
If that's not how it was intended then that's fine, but that's how it came off
on
this end.
I don't really think there are any other addons causing it, but I will try
raiding
without them next week as well.
Also, I'm not certain it's happening on blizzard's end - what it seemed like to
me
was the addon itself resetting, and just like it changes officer notes when you
add
gp, it was doing the same thing and taking away what had been added that night.
Whether or not that's what is actually going on, I dunno, but that's what it
seemed
like to me for whatever that's worth.
Original comment by pcharm...@gmail.com

I definitely didn't mean that. That doesn't stop making this bug very very
peculiar :-) Dingochavezz might be
on to something though. I know quickdkp uses officer notes too, I am not sure
if there are others. If someone
who can edit officer notes has both epgp and quickdkp this might be it. Also
the epgps addon writes to
officer notes (one that saves all notes and restores to make 2 pools for 10 and
25 man).
I went through your list of addons but didn't find anything that writes (or
reads) officer notes.
Also did you try to open the debug window after this happened and see if there
is anything that says that
epgp wrote the "reset" GP? You can open the debug window with /epgp debug and
scroll through it with the
mousewheel.
Also what is very weird about this bug is that you say only GP changes. The
officer note is XX,YYY so both EP
and GP are written at the same time. So if this was a bug in LibGuildStorage
you would see both EP and GP
resetting to their start of the day values. Actually any addon that saves and
restores officer notes should have
the same behavior. But since only GP changes this means that someone (or the
addon itself) is
adding/subtracting GP through EPGP::IncGPBy or something is undoing stuff from
the personal log.

Alrighty; and yeah, it's a little odd for sure, though I do know of one other
guild
who did have issues with it and just switched to DKP instead of dealing with it.
You know, it could be changing EP values too but we've never noticed it. We've
mostly
been concerned with GP values because people would notice when someone suddenly
jumped back up to the top of the PR list after getting a piece of tier loot
etc.
Looking over the EPGPWeb page we have, the amount of EP changing doesn't look
like it
should be enough. I bet that's ch anging too and we just never noticed it. I
will
have to watch for THAT next raid too.
I will try the Debug bit next time I see it happen as well. If I see anything,
I will
paste it in a comment here. :)

Do you, by any chance, have different people doing EP and GP? For example raid
leader does EP and master
looter does GP?
Original comment by evlogimenos

Raid leader does EP and I do GP yes.
Original comment by pcharm...@gmail.com

This is the problem. EPGP does not work when you have two people editing notes
at the
same time. This is also why you lose just a bit of state, like previous award
or just the
last couple of GP awards.
Unfortunately this is quite hard to fix so the current solution is to have only
one person
doing EPGP for the raid.
