EPGP Lootmaster randomly not assigning GP. #514

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Using epgp lootmaster 0.3.57
2. raid as normal. use epgp lootmaster to hand out loot.
3. the mod states that GP is assigned, and it gets recorded in the log. but
the officer note is not updated.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

We expect the officer note to be updated as normal.

What version of the product are you using? What locale is your client (en,
ru, kr, ch, es, tw)? What other addons do you have installed and what
versions?

EPGP Lootmaster 0.3.57
epgp-5.5.5

english locale

Paste the text surrounded by -EPGP- in Guild Information here:
-EPGP-
@BASE_GP:200
@DECAY_P:15%
@MIN_EP:15
-EPGP-

Now, this might be important. We changed these values 2 weeks ago, the old
values for the last 9 months were:
@BASE_GP:100
@DECAY_P:10%
@MIN_EP:15

Perhaps there is an issue with changing the values? I will try and blow
away any saved settings EPGP Lootmaster may have, just in case.

If this is about http://www.epgpweb.com integration, what is the realm
and region of your guild?

It isn't but, here we are:
http://www.epgpweb.com/guild/us/Frostmane/Etched%20in%20Blood/
Please provide any additional information below.

This seams to be a random issue with epgp lootmaster. I do not think it has
anything to do with distance from the lootmaster as we have only noticed
this behavior in TOC and everyone is fairly close to each other. For the
last 2 raids we have had to watch the addon very closely to make sure that
it is updating the officer notes. We have been using EPGP for ~9 months and
this is the first time it has started doing this. The Lootmaster is the GM
of the guild, so it is not a permissions issue. We have played with EPGP
adding and subtracting GP through EPGP seams to work great, we believe the
problem is with EPGP Lootmaster. It doesn't seam to matter what guild rank
a person is to whether or not the person receives the GP that they should.

Our last raid, of the 18 people who received loot, 10 of them did not have
their GP updated properly.

We are happy to provide any logs or do whatever we can to help. Thanks for
your work on the mod.

Are you having more than 1 person doing EPGP for a single raid?

Yes. We generally have 1 person doing the reward per 15 minutes (and standby
list),
another doing Master Looting and awarding gear, and another doing bonus points
for
various things (ie: 1 shot a boss, or fastest time etc).

Is this a bad thing?

No it is a VERY bad thing. If you have more than 1 person doing EPGP for a raid
you get
random data corruption on officer notes.

Ok, I just read after posting my issue number 521.

We too use multiple people to handle awards for loot vs EP/time etc.

Why does this limitation exist?

Because implementing distributed locks is quite hard and there is no built in
way to do
atomic Get & Set officer note in the warcraft API.

Issue 521 has been merged into this issue.

Okay. Important safety tip. Thanks.

(Not to be a jackass, but, this should perhaps be mentioned in the documentation
somewhere, is it appears to be news to many.)

I just went through the wiki site and did not notice this limitation mentioned.
 We
often run more than one raid at a time and have a raid officer from each raid
doing
the EP distribution for their own raid. I have recently noticed a couple
discrepancies where a single person will have less EP by the end of the raid
than the
rest of the people in the same raid group, even though all EP was done through
the
use of Mass EP awards. Could this be caused by the same issue or is this
likely an
entirely separate issue? Also the raid leader distributing EP will change from
night
to night, I assume that this should not be an issue, correct?

You shouldn't have any problems with EP/GP assignment as long as you have one
person per raid giving awards/gp. Also people should not be in multiple raids,
that is
you can't be in one raid and standby on another.

We are experianceing it currently... Randomly not assigning GP to the officer
note... log works fine... so we can find it and change it .. after upload.. but
it
still doesnt work... we have to check it every night after our raid :( Not just
GP
Randomly missing EP... is there a problem with the mod accessing/changing the
officer note? We use 1 person for all distribution methods
